Karl Peters (left in photo), electric operations director for Presque Isle Electric & Gas Co-op, was recently honored by the co-op’s board for his distinguished and dedicated service.
Peters was recognized specifically for his high level of personal character, teamwork and commitment to PIE&G. Peters began his career as a groundman in April 1970. Six months later, he began the four-year Apprentice Lineman Program. A month after starting the program, he was placed on the weekend standby schedule with then-lineman Mark Rotarius. Peters successfully completed his apprenticeship training in 1974, earning a promotion to journeyman lineman. During his 17 years as a lineman, he also enjoyed working with other partners, including Bob Carter, George Marsh and Doug Penfold.
In 1991, Peters was promoted to the working foreman position in the maintenance department. Peters became electric operations director in January 2002, where he remained until his retirement on Jan. 2, 2015.
Peters and his wife, Anna, are looking forward to more fishing and camping trips, as well as other travel.
