The HomeWorks Tri-County Electric Cooperative People Fund recently gave $5,000 to Housing Services of Mid Michigan. The charity is located in Charlotte and offers a rent assistance program for area families.

The co-op’s People Fund program is funded by contributions from co-op members who “round up” their monthly electric bills to the next dollar, and the difference is collected for distribution to local individuals and programs that help people in the community. The program is governed by a volunteer board of directors that decide how the funds are distributed.
