Thumb Electric Cooperative (TEC), held its 78th Annual Meeting and Member Appreciation Day on June 13. About 800 people attended, which was highlighted by the election of three direc-tors and entertainment activities.
Re-elected were Donald Wolschleger (Huron County); and Jonathan Findlay, (Tuscola County). Newly elected to a three-year term was Mike Briolat (Sanilac County). Officers re-elected are Louis Wenzlaff, president; Donald Wolschleger, vice-president; Beth McDonald, secretary; and Randall Dhyse, treasurer.
General Manager Dallas Braun summarized for members that in 2014, TEC constructed overĀ $3.9 million in new utility plant; facilitated the building of a 665 kw solar array that can produce energy for 100 homes; and began offering members the option to participate in the ACRE for Co-op Owners political action committee. Additionally, TEC has refunded a total of about $7 million in capital credits to members and started construction on over $4.5 million in electrical system upgrades for 2015.
Ed Smith, aide to Congresswoman Candice Miller; Derrick Mathis, regional manager to U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow; state Sen. Mike Green; and state Reps. Paul Muxlow and Ed Canfield were guest speakers at the meeting.
